CHRIS BROWN

YO EXCUSE ME MISS

Today is the anniversary of the release of one of my favourite songs. EVER.
It's YO EXCUSE ME MISS BY CHRISTOPHER MAURICE BROWN A.K.A CHRIS BROWN. I literally only have to hear 2 seconds of the intro and I'm smiling from ear to ear. Every time.

I'm legit telling you those 40 million views are all me. Then the 312, 573 are other people. I love the video as much as the song.

All I'm ever in Chris' twitter mentions saying is how much I love Yo Excuse Me Miss. One day he has to reply but in the meantime to celebrate this 9 year old song I'm going to have it on repeat even more than I usually do!

What song are you obsessed with even still, years after its release ?

SONGS I CURRENTLY HAVE ON REPEAT

FIVE SONGS I AM OBSESSED WITH AT THE MOMENT

1. 7/11 - Beyoncé
It's the video that makes me love this song really. The song is catchy but the video is far from anything Beyoncé has ever done. It is just fun and carefree. I love how personal it is too. For some reason I'm obsessed with the last 45 seconds of the song. I love the atmospheric feel it has going on!

2. Post To Be - Omarion, Chris Brown & Jhené Aiko
I love it when my favourite artists collaborate and both Chris and Jhené are among my faves. When Jhené posted a snippet on Instagram I couldn't wait for the entire thing and I wasn't disappointed when I finally got to hear the entire song. It is more the beat than the lyrics that I love but still I never hit skip when it comes on shuffle.

3. Persian Rugs - PartyNextDoor
A friend gave me a list of PND songs to listen to and I listened to this one third and thought it was cool. I still had a few to go through on the list but after I had finished this was the only one I have been listening to. I love the way PND sings it. It's so mesmerising, hypnotic, atmospheric to me and of course I love the chill nature of the beat too. It's currently the third most played song in my iTunes.

4. Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran
I love Ed but this is now up there in my favourite Ed songs which are U.N.I and Don't. His songwriting skills are just awesome and I love the instrumental break at about the 3 and half minutes mark. He definitely deserves the number 1 spot on the charts in my opinion.

5. Nothing Even Matters - Lauryn Hill & D'Angelo
I seriously wish this song had won the grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo. Like seriously. Look I don't even think I can find the words to describe how beautiful and timeless this song. And quite frankly this song will probably never leave my '5 songs I am obsessed with at the moment' list because 16 years after it was released and here I am still obsessed with it. It's just a timeless classic.
Here's my ultimate aim though- to make songs people still love years and years later.

Below is a tweet, incase you missed it, to put in to perspective how much I LOVE this song but I don't even think this explains it.

If you do nothing else after reading this, please listen to Nothing Even Matters. Please and thank you!

The History Of Popular Music

MUSIC DOCUMENTARIES

I do love a good documentary, especially when it involves music too.

Just sharing a few documentaries I have watched recently are:
Lionel Richie: Dancing On The Ceiling
- The Making Of Elton John: Madman Across The Water
- Prince: Purple Reign
- Play It Loud: The Story Of The Marshall Amp
- When Albums Ruled The World
- The Heart Of Country: How Nashville Became Music City USA

BBC Four is literally the best for music documentaries. I find after watching them I have a new-found respect for artists I tend to not listen to on a daily basis. Of my list above I enjoyed the Lionel Richie one so so much! I plan on watching it again that's how much I loved it.

When you have some spare time I advise you to immerse yourself in a music documentary about something or someone. You'll learn a lot, perhaps even be inspired and who doesn't like being educated and/or inspired ?!

Watch them now, thank me later
Shanté.
